Shadows of a Soviet Past...
The question now is......What will the world do. Georgia has been trying to join NATO for the last few years. Russia is making her move, and the world seems not to care about civilian dead and unilateral aggression all of a sudden. Good luck Ukraine, you may be next. Georgian troops are now leaving Iraq to defend there homes
Hungary 1956......
Czechoslovakia 1968.....

I'm glad some blogger and/or commentator has at last remembered Czechoslovakia in 1968.
Because there was nothing we could do about that short of nuclear war. We're not much further off this time, either.
Unless the Turks let us use Incirlik to intervene in some way, what are we to throw at Putin except words?
Wasn't there some sort of exercise we participated in with Georgia as the setting?
I really don't like the idea of that. I think Russia is on a short list of groups I'd like to NOT to go to war with.
What sanctions can we level against them?
I don't imagine the UN could do anything at all considering their permanent status on the Security Council (smooth move that one).
We work with the Polish Army because they are our "Partners in Peace". We are helping them build an NCO corp based on ours etc. When I work there, they explain to me that the Russians are still the real threat. The Georgia (USA) Army National Gaurd actually has Georgia as there partner in this program. I hope members of the 48th IBTC did not get caught up in this mess during some training event. Wouldn't be any use for Miles 2000 or blank adaptors.
I can’t understand why some countries let themselves engage in war. They don’t even think that innocent civilians are the one who will suffer most!
