Ban on kites in Pakistan......Deja Vu?
Kite fighting is a spring rite around the world. I work with a young Captain who hails from Haiti and he remembers Kite fighting a a boy. The Taliban made this sport against the law because of the Hindu roots to the celebration. We remember how tolerant they were about anything. Besides, what's more dangerous? Flying kites with string laced with glass, or riding on the fuel tank of your fathers bike?

Tell about the other pic!!!! Was that purposely blown up or is it a natural disaster????
ahh. kite flying, 3 up on a motorbike, I miss Asia. There is a great documentary about beggar families who live in the ruins of those missing Buddhas.
Shell, that's the Taliban destroying the thousands of years old Bamian Buddah statues. The Afghans are trying to reconstruct them as best they can.
in the story i read in the paper the people that had been killed by kites were all on motorcycles.
How they keep their robes out of the spokes is a mystery to me...
here it is. Great film. Just really simple, following their lives. breath taking imagery you must be looking at every day.
