News of Afghanistan ۴۰

Wow, 40 times I have managed this. I think that means there is a lot of information out there about Afghanistan that people just aren't seeing. So, let us remedy that, shall we?

You never write or call anymore!

Uh, no kidding.

Same old, same old from Mullah Omar

Remember, this is what the enemy is all about.

Someone doing great good for people that almost nobody will or can help? This man qualifies. And you can help him too.

Say, what will the zip code for Afghanistan be...?

Uh oh.

All for one and one for all, right?

"Don't like our mine and fence idea? Tough!"

Huh...? Gulbuddin, you one crazy dude.

Ungood, plus ungood.

An old tradition continues.

Go here to watch a slideshow of an Afghan patrol.

On the webpage that carried the story of the failing health of the former king, there is an article about inroads capitalism is making in Afghanistan.

Still, though it's about doubled since the overthrow of the Taliban, per capita income is just $355 a year.

The road to prosperity for these people is a very long one.

Thanks, once more, for the news digest!

Indeed - when I left, $400 per year was a decent living, and our local interpreters were providing for extended families on what they earned from us.

I like the Pakistani fence idea, don't like the mines though.

Trouble is, the area that need the fence/wall the most is what the 1/501st called "Dinosaur Country." You can't even drive a Hummer up there. I don't know how they'd ever get a fence in there and actually guard it.

I'll bet like everything else in the world the place that gets the most will be the place with the most money and the most attention (media-wise).
