De-evolution

I have watched this blog's ratings in TTLB Ecosystem (as seen at the bottom of the page) decline from "Adorable Rodent" to "Flappy Bird" to "Slithering Reptile". I know that NZ Bear has tweaked the rating system over at TTLB, but what gives?
I guess I will have to go back to putting up more Afghan photos, eh?

It goes up, it goes down, hard to say why, though it seems the best measuring stick out there still...

I say more doughnuts!

Wow, what a way to get lifted out of a blog slough of despond! Day by Day's very own dropping by. Thanks Chris!

I keep fluctuating between Crappy Bird and Rodent. Weekends are especially slow.

I think it's mostly based on links, but there may be some traffic factored in.

The other thing to remember is that new people will periodically list you and then you'll also get folks unlist you now and then. This gives a fluctuating ranking. I've popped out and then back in to "flappy bird" myself recently. Time to get another link from the Instapundit. Heh?

I cannot understand the rankings either as I seem to fluctuate wildly day by day (no pun intended). In addition, my daily visitor stats on TTLB haven't changed since the day that I joined, many months ago, and they're not correct. If TTLB gets it's stats from sitemeter, I'm confused as to why my true stats are not reflected.

Everyone says it's the best measuring stick, and I suppose it's true if you're measuring rankings among peers, but certainly not if you're measuring stats.

Simon's right, it's based on links, not on traffic, though your traffic is also listed.

And about Chris - one class act!
