Yet another Corporate Business-speak example

From a company website (name of division removed to protect the innocent corporate bystanders):

"The [Marketing types] community has been working over the last few months to identify new thought leadership opportunities to complement other thought leadership activities, and further support the business objectives of our corporate segments."

George Orwell wept.

I think I can translate this as - "our marketing people struggled for some time to come up with a new sponsor/new ad/new campaign/something, anything really new."

Memorial Day Admonition

As appears to be custom with me now, I would remind people that today is about those that have died in the service of this country, and remembering them and their families.  That is it.

Not thank a Veteran for his or her service day, sale day or bbq day.  Though all those do have their place - the purpose of Memorial Day is none of those things.
