A Delightful Piece of Spin
"The 2005 survey results are in. Overall, the news is generally favorable, but there are some key areas of opportunity."
That is just wonderful! "[K]ey areas of opportunity" indeed. I wonder how many people with MBAs sat around trying to figure out a way to say "Most people are happy, but there seem to be some fairly consistent complaints" or "Not bad, but some things are really pissing people off" in weasel words.

You sound very switched on, Its actually very good to read your posts about real stituaions. Liked the fact that you gave smiles to the Afgans, and expecially the kids you gave cookies or biscuits to! :)
Also love the way PR people like to word things, cracks me up sometime!!
Blessings Major John
Thanks Kiwi! I had the privilege of working with a group of Kiwis at Bagram AF - wonderful people, and very good soldiers too! Kind of makes me biased in favor of New Zealand...
Kiwi-
Being an All Black fan and Rugger myself, whenever I passed a Kiwi in Afghanistan I would start whistling "God Defend New Zealand." I loved the way they would look around in surprise.
BTW I want to compliment you on singing the National Anthem (at Rugby matches anyway) in Maori (some dialect I suspect) first and then in English. That's a touch of class in my book.
"God of nations at thy feet, in the bonds of love we meet..." (that's gonna be in my head all day now)
Kiwi-
Oh, I forgot to ask what I asked all Kiwis, what position do (did) you play?
Cheers for that! Well I didn't really get to play too much Rugby, I played a bit on the wing. Till I realised I was way too slow and got smashed by the big guys!!:) I instead got my own back when I got into Underwater Hockey!!
I could just imagine you whistling, I would have been really surprised to hear it too!
BTW - we all have to sing it in both Languages when you go through school, it is cool but also a bit of a contentious issue too.
