Gratuitous Afghanistan Photo of the Day (72)
OK everyone, now that it is September, and Fall is right around the corner - please take the appropriate precautions...
(actually discussed that with a guy that had been in iraq, i know it's generally frowned upon as they can be pretty flea-bitten, however he'd managed to get people to send him flea collars and they had no problems with rodents)
We had swarms of cats around Bagram AF. First they subsisted on mice and birds - then the female soldiers got a hold of them...they were clearing the PX of tuna, and having cat food mailed to them to feed feral Afghan cats...oy!
KBR actually subcontracted our cats in Salerno. The vector control guy would put down dogs, but he just had the cats given shots and sent them on their merry rodent killing ways.
I won't tell my cat stories from the Kingdom on the blog. Next time we meet in person and can throw back a few beers I'll share. Needless to say, I greatly reduced the cat populations in Riyadh and al Kharj.
no kitties?
