HOOAH! Great job by the Iraqi Army. As for morale, the MSM and al Qaeda are sure in a hurt.
Ford and Chevy piuckups. I like it.
ok we win. let's bring our troops home now...if not why not?
Here is why not:
(BTW, sorry, I'm a Northerner)
Union Captain in Virgina says to another Union Captain:
"Can you believe what a Copperhead reporter asked General Sherman? He said: "General Sherman, you just took Atlanta and burned it to the ground. The South's will just HAS to be broken. It looks like you won! Why the march to the sea?" Dumbass McClellan supporter (Both Laughing).
Other Captain: (mocking voice) "Oh, I know General Johnson is still out there in the Carolinas - but I bet he'll surrender pretty soon. Come on, pretty please, General, bring our troops home now? (whispering) Don't you know you're making McClellan look bad?" (Both laughing...trails off)
First Captain: Boy, I do hope this war is over soon, me and the boys sure want to go home.
Second Captain: Amen to that. Just gotta finish the job... Grant's the man to do that.
----
That said, put this dialog in context (i.e. Basra really wasn't burned down and today's officers may make fun of the media, but wouldn't dare put down current or future commander-in-chiefs - well, we hope) of the war in Iraq, and one gets the picture.
We have to get the job done to the point where troops can sit in their big fat bases - coming out for humanitarian projects and joint exercises/training missions with the Iraqi Army where deaths are 95% accidental - i.e. truck rollover. Special Forces would continue to train Iraqi Special Forces for counterterrorism and go on joint missions.
Anon - the IA won in Basrah. And you link this to the Coalition withdrawing from the whole country?!
You were aware that I am by Basrah and was referring to the IA beating the JAM there, right?
