This one should make our resident Signal Corps Officer (The Inner Prop) happy, heh heh. It's the Signaleer!

I just found out that the Red Baron was a Signal Officer for a time.

He was in a debacle while a Cav LT and realized that the time for men on horseback was over.

He moved to Signal and soon realized that pulling wires through the mud wasn't as much fun as he thought it would be.

One other funny thing is the first two airplanes ever bought by any military anywhere were purchased by the US Signal Corps. Consequentially the first air casuality was a Signal Officer (while training with Wilbur Wright).

Pulling wires thorugh the mud isn't fun?

...

I'm going to have to think about that.

The US Army Signal Corps is the originating point not only for the US Air Force, but NASA and the National Weather Service. The Signal Corps procured the first Army automobie and the secong Army Chief of Signal Adolphus Greely was a founder of the National geographic Society.

Why would anyone want to do anything else?

I didn't say it wasn't fun, I said that it wasn't as fun as he thought it would be. Obviously he had been talking to some of us real signal folks.

I agree, who would want to do anything else.
