Rank Confusion

And I don't mean a lot of confusion here at Headquarters - that is nothing worth reporting...

I was selected for a Lieutenant Colonel position in my State's National Guard. While this was occurring, my file was sent to the Federal board to select Lieutenant Colonels...so while Uncle Sam is looking over my qualifications, my State will be putting everything together to have the National Guard Bureau get my selection Federally Recognized. Somewhere they will have to get my packet back from the Feds... End result - somebody is going to promote me to Lieutenant Colonel in the next 3 to 5 months. Easy, right?

Come to me, my Precioussssss

Salutations and Yays! Major John. It's cheered me to see you get to post at PW now and again lately too, since I assume your burdens at work may have eased a bit (at least I hope so).

We got a report on FoxNews last evening that the Maliki Gov by means of IA raids is taking out after SOI leaders in Diyala province and in doing so, scaring the bejeebus out of the rank and file SOI up there (my words, not theirs). Are you hearing anything about these goings on?

Having never gotten past (mid) company grade myself, I could still forgive you your being an O-4. This, however, is a bit much. :-)

Sucks getting promoted after or at the end of deployment. Good to see, glad you made it before our past Bagram S-4.

When I was in, during the Carter Administration, LTCs were "the old man" for the battalion. Now, they are promoting mere children.

The lobotomy is still optional until O-6, right?

Kidding aside, all the best, and take the best of care.

Congrats. Just a little bit of info as to the joys of achieving O-5: my wife wore the naval uniform and a Cdr's cover got the lettuce.

Ok, so will we know you as LtCol John, or do you plan to spell it all out when you traverse the interwebs?

This is damned good news, sir. Congratulations to you and to those what made this excellent decision.

Best,
Pablo

Prop,

Maybe. I don't trust State any further than I could throw Camp Lincoln...

"And with your bad back Ed, you shouldn't be throwing anyone."

I like your new avatar. You are looking ahead whilst I'm going retro.

What's your new position? Are you getting promoted to CHIEF Cook and Bottle Washer?

Ooo, now you can be part of the Colonel Kabal...

Try not get too excited. You, however, are much more deserving than many if not most. There is a way to track your fed rec progress through the Guard Bureau web site.
It will no more "Major John." I was thinking "Johnny Light" would be a good new moniker.

Atl,

"Johnny Light"? Sounds like an early 1980s DJ. Or porn star.

Grats MJ

Missed you at Oldboys this year. Our favorite in-center filled in for you on the injury dept. Unlucky break having three 19 year olds run him into the ground. You'll show him how to do it right next year.

Again, Congratulation
