"GWOT" - begone!

I am not sure what the purpose behind this really is... but I suspect it might be a little awkward when it comes to awards of the GWOT or GWOT-E.

Some Rep (D) would have to mention that a constituent was awarded the _________ Service Medal or ___________ Expeditionary Medal?

Go figure.

ARGH! Should we stop using "World War II" and start refering only to the War in Europe and the War in Japan?

It is NOT the "War in Afghanistan" and a different "war" altogether in Iraq, regardless of the fact that "WAR" was never declared.

We need something to call this thing we are doing that in the whole is right and necessary!

Operations Against Terror (OAT) or Preemptive Operations Against Terrorist Activities and Supporters (POATAS) don't sound strong enough, even though they are accurate (the first one gives a better acronym).

I don't see what's wrong with GWOT (other than it's not an actually declared war). It's catchy and really hit home what we are trying to do, even if it isn't specific.

They don't want to use Bushisms, but I suppose that if they had thought up the phrase it would have been okay.

Are we still a Superpower? I think JFK came up with that one. Can we still talk about the Iron Curtain (Churchill)? I guess the Civil War (Lincoln in the Gettysburg Address) will have to be the War of Northern Aggression. What is the Spanish American War now, Operations in Cuba and Operations in the Philippines?

Sorry for using so much space.

It may be to angry or for our non-violent fiends. War on Terrorists, which ones? We don't seem to be killing any Tamil Tigers, ETA, or IRA etc. We don't want to offend.
