News of Afghanistan XVII

OK, welcome to installment of the News. Let's get to it!

The quick round-up for the day.

My friend Zarar Ahmad wants two fussin' and feudin' political parties disbanded. BTW - these guys were shooting each other even before I got there...

Floods in the Southeast.

Now back to the war....

Attack a PRT site, die. PRT = Provincial Reconstruction Team. So the bad guys are attacking the folks who are trying to rebuild the country. Hmmm.

Some rumbles in Paktika.

Now back to the rest of the news...

"Baaaaa!" Hey, just helping out here....

Wanna see a movie? Try "The Beauty Academy of Kabul"

Take THAT, Haji Almos! A little help for Afghan women MPs (the Wolesi Jirga, not the Army type of MP).

But, but, it's the Afghan Way!? Not anymore for this guy. Heh heh.

Advise and consent, in the Wolesi Jirga.

Yea Germans! Does this mean that Afghanistan will have PMPs like Tempus42 soon?

G'day, Mr. Ambassador.

What's with the Sheep detail without armor and the NO-GO IR reflective flags. I question the location of CSM TG. "This is still my Base!!!!!"

That can't be the "official" Afghanistan web site, can it?

I recall seeing one several years ago featuring nice photos of the country and statements from Karzai urgently requesting foreign investment in building a pipeline and helping the Afgahnis move proudly forward to a brighter future.

The one you link reeks of victimhood. Have they lost hope?

Some Googling may be in order, because if this is the government's website, it's pathetic.

Not an official government site - just somebody that jumped on the name (even the punctuation is suspect).
I just put 'em out there , I don't recommend or denounce.

The interior minister wants the Uzbek political party outlawed? It doesn't sound like that guy has a good grasp on representative government.

Matt - the two parties Zarar Ahmad wants outlawed are basically the Hatfields and McCoys of Afghanistan - two groups dedicated to a single principle. Shooting the other group. This has nothing to do with outlawing Uzbek representation - it has everything to do with stopping a feud - with T-55s.
